Zoom h4n 2018 - onboard microphones. This is an unprocessed recording of the pilot light being repeatedly lit and then extinguished on a natural gas fire globe. This would be perfect for the sound of any gas device being lit such as a grill, boiler, pool heater, water heater, stove, oven, etc. . . I have give you many variations to choose from and provided some audio of the flame once lit that can be easily looped. A rather lengthy sound byte that i heavily edited to the point of being unrecognizable. It sustains a flat note with varying bass levels causing an unnerving effect or the listener or player. I had designed this track for a roleplay plot involving a cursed train station, the plot came out kinda rough and it fell through midway. . . But, the audio track i made came out good enough to post here like my first sound involving my transformers oc!. It's free to use as long as you credit me, and it can be used in a wide variety of fields that is deemed appropriate. From suspense to horror, or even background noise in a lighter field; it can be altered and edited as needed due to it's broad and simple design. Xy stereo recording from gärdet subway station in stockholm. This focuses on an older trains doors, various steams and similar "heavy" sound elements. In post: edited in pro tools with som bass cutting (eq) and automation to make some sounds stand out but still sound realistic. Put on a light compressor and pich-shifted down some elements to give more depth. This was in someway inspired by "dead space" tram and door sounds but slightly less "massive" and haunting. Ps. There's 2 versions of this recording. The one with "nr" in the title is noise reduced so sounds like the doors and steam are somewhat separated from the background. Hope you like it.

Stereo recording of waves on a sandy beach, recorded from the shelter provided by some rocks, with a faint engine hum from a large ship in the far background. Tide was about one hour after turn and coming in. Recorded across an estuary. Average level about -18db. Recorded using h2 zoom with front microphones (90 degree). 6db of amplification in audacity.

An eight minute long soundscape i made for an episode of an audio fiction podcast. Intended to give the impression of a strange and otherworldly empty void, and to mildly imply sci-fi machinery with a spiritualist undertone. However, could easily be used for other projects where you want to create a feeling of discomfort, or of being in a strange and empty place.

An long escalator i recorded in atlanta. The escalator was very noisy, and produced a kind of whining electrical sound that sounded almost spiritual. I do not know if the transcendent beauty of the escalator is captured sufficiently here, but i figured someone might be able to use it! there are a few faint voices in the background.

This recording is made not of the falls but of the water right before the falls, so you can hear the roar of the falls in the background, but the recording is dominated by the sound of the river approaching them. I made the recording on the brazilian side of the falls, if that makes any difference to you.

Digital noise made from raw binary files extracted from hdd with hexplorer using raw import function in audacity. Files were 4, each made from 200 sectors. I modified each sound using filters and joined them together to make longer looping example. Good to use in a game or 3d video animation as background ambient noise. Audacity and hexplorer are freeware and you can make similar job with them. . .

I recorded the end of a rain storm with water running off of the house and multitudes and species of frogs in the background. I used my phone to record a mono track and then used audacity to simulate spatial stereo. It made the traffic in the distance sound like spirits moaning. I thought it was pretty cool. (-;.

The local library has a printer whose noise i thought was quite unique. I forgot to record it the first time, so the second time i checked out books i made sure to record it. This is a field recording from my friend walker's yard in las cruces, nm that i made on a band tour in may 2006. Pre-dawn recording of the city of warren, mi (detroit's largest suburb) waking up on palm sunday. Recording is from 5:20am to 7:20am. Sunrise was at 7:13am. It was a cold crisp clear sky morning, 29f / -2c, barely any breeze. Pretty much a quiet track of early springtime birds, robins, mourning doves etc. , city hum & distant traffic building up as the city awakes on this beautiful palm sunday 2023. This very happy bird-song was recorded in late winter/very early spring of 2012. It was a cold, partly sunny morning after a cold night, yet this red male cardinal was singing proud and loud. This sound was recorded via the use of a behringer b2 microphone, fostex fr2 and a home made parabolic reflector made from a tv satellite dish. The source of the sound was between 100m-200m away from the microphone. This has been eq'ed with high-end shelving to reduce gain noise, low-end shelved up to 1khz (to reduce wind and background noise) and the overall gain has been increased. Here, i tried to represent the rain with a thunderstorm in the background, a sound that can be used in a thriller, drama or other movies. To the sound of the rain i generated "white noise", amplitude to 1. Then, i changed the acute and bass across the track to show some instability of the rain. To highlight the suddenness of the rain, i put a fade in during the first 5 seconds with a reverberation from 6 to 50s to make a natural sound. Finally, i added a track recorded of a storm with -9db for the storm and + 11db for the rain.

This is a field recording from a window on a street corner in williamsburg, brooklyn, during a summer afternoon in august 2019. This is a short clip of a single distant horn honk from a car. This is a short clip intended to be a background texture for sound design, longer version also available. Recorded with a neumann stereo pair into the sound devices 633.

This is a repost of beerbottlewhoo. Ogg. It's the same sound except that this one is in wav format. Glass beer bottle blow sounding like the background "whoo" effect in the movies alien and blade runner. Mono. Old school spot effect. Helmholtz resonance using a partially-filled (for pitch tuning) glass beer bottle. The resulting tone was sampled, bandpass filtered, pitch bent and laid over a copy of the original sample. Reverb added post-effect to push the sound back and smooth out some nasty quantizing artefacts caused by the pitch bender.

Sound created and generated with the software "bitmaps & waves" version 3. 10. 1. I'm totally in love with this software, it let's you take an image, and "convert" it into a lovely sound. This morning i woke up to the sound of a city crew jackhammering concrete just outside my window. I grabbed my h2 and recorded for a while. This file is an edit of the full recording. It contains two bursts of jackhammering, one fairly short and one longer. The background noise is the sound of the air compressor. Toward the end the compressor is turned off and the last of the pressure is released by the jackhammer as it sort of "putters out". This last bit is a bit unique.

This jump scare sound was created by playing 2 dissonant chords on a single coil telecaster mic'd up w/ a vox ac 10 amp. The two guitar tracks are panned left and right- reverb and delay are added. Additionally, frequency enhancers were added between 4khz - 6khz which adds a higher tonal energy in the upper range of the guitar. Gain is added which can be heard as signal noise mostly at the end of the clip. Enjoy. Bainmack.
